While it may be hard to believe with all the recent snow storms, spring is just around the corner! Today we wanted to go over some of our favorite ways to brighten up your home for spring. Here are a few of our favorite spring interior design ideas.
In our clients' Chelsea Penthouse, they wanted to have lots of color (and we were happy to oblige!). We chose this gorgeous bright bedding, but needed to find a way to keep the color moving without being overwhelming. The paint color we chose is a beautiful muted pink, toned down with a gray undertone. This color is perfect to bring in those warm spring feelings without it being too much. Now, we don't mean Easter egg pastels. Look for colors that have a gray or taupe undertone to keep them feeling warm yet livable.
Chinoiserie is one of our favorite spring interior design ideas. By definition, Chinosierie is the European interpretation of Chinese decorations and art. We love using Chinoiserie prints throughout many of our designs. In this Central Park West interior design, we added this stunning wallpaper in the main bedroom. While we may be surrounded by the concrete jungle, this whimsical wallpaper created our own magical indoor garden that lasts all year. You can pick a more subtle print, like this one, or go bold with bright colors and larger scale prints.
Floral Window Treatments
Another area to bring some spring energy to is in your window treatments. As beautiful as the architecture outside was, our clients wanted to bring the outdoors into their new construction penthouse. We took one of my favorite fabrics and created these beautiful draperies to nod to their love for nature. The neutral backdrop keeps things light, but the floral pattern is a daily reminder of the life blossoming in this beautiful home.
Back of Chair Accents
As much as we love playing with delicate silks and taffetas, sometimes we have to prioritize wear and usage. To remedy this, we love using the more delicate, but beautiful printed fabrics on the backs of chairs that get a lot of wear and tear. The backs don't get as much wear as the chair seats, so they are a great opportunity to add some pattern and color to a space. In this waterfront home, we wanted to add some pattern to the dining chairs, so we used a more livable fabric on the seats, and added this beautiful print to the back for some added visual interest. We love this interior design idea since you can bring in some gorgeous colors and prints that you may not be able to have on the full chair.
Flora and Fauna
Last but not least, we love the idea of adding flora and fauna to bring springtime into your home. Bring in your favorite floral prints and animal creatures (in moderation of course) to evoke that feeling of new life and refreshment that spring brings. In this Meatpacking District townhouse, we paired a gorgeous vintage-inspired floral print accent chair with a more modern velvet sofa, topped with hummingbird adorned pillows and prints. The whole room is tied together with a large scale floral print rug bursting with color.
We hope these spring interior design ideas help you feel a little inspired for the upcoming season change! Thank you so much for tuning in, and if you are in the market for a home refresh, you can always contact us to get started on your own transformation. See you next week!
