For a beach house we designed in the Hamptons we encountered wood floors of mixed oak and pine. It would be impossible to fill in the gaps with one or the other, so we've decided to use painted wood floors in white to brighten up the cottage and deal with the mismatched flooring. The General Contractor has asked me for a specification on the finish, and we've been researching different looks. Here are some of our favorite looks:
